
David Guarino is a communications professional with decades of experience as a news reporter, strategic communications advisor and nonprofit leader. He is the Founder & President of Survivors Say, the first nonprofit of its kind providing free support to survivors seeking to have a greater say in if, when and how their stories are told. Since 2021, David and his colleagues at Survivors Say have helped dozens of survivors of high-profile traumas including mass shootings, homicides, missing persons, suicides, sexual violence, human trafficking, climate disasters and more. David is also a Partner at Melwood Global, a strategic communications firm co-located in Boston, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. He worked for 12 years as a newspaper reporter, covering the 9/11 terror attacks in New York, several presidential campaigns, the 2000 Florida presidential recount and many other high-profile news events. He lives in Salem, Massachusetts with his wife and their labrador retriever and has two sons currently in college in Georgia and Virginia.
